: Compiled from over 400GB of raw terrain data into a roughly 46GB final installation. Enhanced USA Beta
The leap from the original FreeMeshX releases to Version 2.0 brought several critical improvements:

If you are still flying in FSX or P3D and haven't upgraded your global mesh,
: The package is built from over 400GB of raw data, compressed into a roughly 46GB final installation. : Compiled from over 400GB of raw terrain
This is normal. FreeMeshX Global does not include the USA because the default USA scenery already uses LOD10 terrain (the same resolution). To improve USA terrain, you must download the separate FreeMeshX USA high-definition mesh package (LOD12, 9m resolution).
: FreeMeshX upgrades almost the entire world to a high-fidelity 38-meter resolution (LOD10). This means the simulator samples elevation data every 38 meters, compared to the hundreds of meters used by default scenery. This is normal
I took a quick hop this evening from to Zurich . If you want to see the difference immediately, fly there. The default mountains in that region are decent, but with FreeMeshX 2.0, the ridgelines are knife-edge sharp. You can finally see the true topography that makes VFR flying so enjoyable.
The FreemeshX Global Terrain Mesh Scenery 2.0 is an outstanding addition to any FSX or P3D installation. With its highly detailed and accurate terrain mesh, this scenery package significantly enhances the visual fidelity of the simulation. While there may be some minor performance impact, the benefits of this scenery far outweigh the costs. Overall, I highly recommend the FreemeshX Global Terrain Mesh Scenery 2.0 to anyone looking to take their simulation experience to the next level.
While most of the world is LOD10, areas like Antarctica, Greenland, and northern Russian territories (beyond 60N) are typically rendered at LOD9 (76m). USA Expansion:
Flying VFR (Visual Flight Rules) through the Swiss Alps, the Colorado Rockies, or the Chilean Andes becomes a completely different experience. Peak crests look sharp. Canyons plunge deeply. Vertical rock walls look genuinely steep rather than gently sloped. Cost Efficiency
