At the time of its release, ArchiCAD 11 was not a fully multi-threaded application. While most operations relied on single-core performance, newer functions such as placing PDF files, file saving with compression, and the LightWorks rendering engine benefited from multi-core processors, which were becoming standard in new computers. Prior to version 11, adding standard 2D details or manufacturer diagrams into a 3D BIM model was clunky. The Worksheet Tool allowed architects to extract 2D vector data from the 3D model and place it into a dedicated, unlinked 2D workspace. ArchiCAD 11 also introduced the Worksheet, a new tool and view type that was ideal for integrating external drawings — such as DWG files from structural engineers — into the project. Once brought into the project, these worksheets could be used in conjunction with Visual Compare to coordinate documents across disciplines. This made ArchiCAD 11 more effective in multidisciplinary workflows, bridging the gap between architects and their consultants.
